Founded in 2010, United80 was born from a shared love of music, art, and fashion and quickly became one of Brixton’s most distinctive cultural destinations. A home for independent brands and artists reflecting Black British culture, underground London, and creative communities from cities around the world, the store established itself as a genuine creative hub — launching collections, hosting art exhibitions, and championing the voices of new and established brands alike.
In January 2020, the physical store closed in response to the pressures of gentrification.
Rather than disappear, founder Samantha-Jane Ofoegbu conceived United80 Nomad — a
vision for a travelling pop-up series that would take the brand’s spirit directly to its community. The pandemic, and the demands of becoming a first-time mother to a child with complex needs, put those plans on hold.
Now, five years on, United80 is back — with Brixton as its first stop, and the world to follow.
